Really wanted to love these shoes but when I got them home & tried them on they have a negative styled heel. I did not see this stated in the description which would have negated me from making the purchase due to my knee issues. I also found the toe box area to be a bit wide with a lot of toe wiggle room. They appear to be well constructed & I loved the overall look & style but sadly I had to return them. Thank goodness Amazon has a great return policy and I was able to return them without taking a loss. I have always loved the Merrell brand and still have many other pairs that I can wear without issue. Great looking pair of Merrell's ..... just be aware of the negative styled heel if that is an issue for you.I loved the look of these shoes in the box. But when I put them on, they were huge in the toe bed and really wide for my feet. I felt like I could never get them tight enough and my foot was always sliding around in them, causing me to roll my ankle often. I honestly wish I could return them, but I got them for a trip to Hawaii and they were the only shoes I had so I had to wear them the full two weeks. Really disappointed I spent my money on these. I highly recommend going to a store to try on certain brands before buying online. That was my number one mistake.** One good thing is that they have great built in arches. I didn't need to wear inserts like usual, although I did anyway just so my foot would fit in the wide shoe...The arches in these were too high for me. I have owned 3 pairs of Merrell Moabs and have loved them. I have had 3 pairs of Merrell Mocs and loved them. I stand all day at work, which is what I bought these for. These HURT my feet, I ended up taking them off after 4 hours because of the pain. Oh, and they quack when I walk. Nice looking well made, but not for me.Comfortable-width is great. Tried to buy other brands (new balance) because they used to be wider. These are made really well, and seem to be good quality. Time and use will tell.Great shoe they wear hard. Don’t like the noises the shoe makes, very noisey shoes.Perfect for long walks. Good grip on the soles in wet conditions. Sturdy yet attractive. Don't make my feet look larger than they are. I can wear them all day on asphalt, paths, rocks, carpet with comfort. Fit is spot on. Roomy toe box.Love my first pair of Merrell hiking shoes! Fits like a glove. For somebody with flat feet and picky when it comes to shoe comfort and fit, this one did not need any break-ins. Used these pair on my first hike to Yosemite.Love these hiking shoes. Super comfortable, wore them every day on a two week trip through eastern Europe. Leather stitching on the toe is fraying a little but I like them so much I don't care at this point.I was a bit disappointed with these. They are quite stiff and not the normal Merrells that I was expecting. They are not gortex lined so don't know if they would be properly waterproof which put me off as I think it's a must for this type of walking shoe. When I looked at reviews for this product on different sites they were quite good with some saying gortex lined. I know if they were they would have a gortex lable on the side like my other Merrells. Have to send them back as not normal Merrell standard. Shame as really nice dark purple colour.Comfortable fit, with a wide toe box. Room for 3 season walking socks/medium weight sports socks. Bought for dog walking, so I can't comment on suitability for trail running. The outsoles seem to be really grippy, but they've yet to be tested out in wet weather etc. No breaking in required, comfy straight from the box. The soles feel quite rigid & there's good arch support.Delivered promptly enough but the shoes came in a plain box with a printed label saying the original box had been damaged in transit. This is the first pair of shoes I've bought that have nothing on them, no stickers on the sole or inside, usually they have something on the laces saying for example, the shoes are waterproof, there's nothing. Makes me think they are pre worn or something, they just look suspect so it's kind of put me off them already. Its a shame cos I am usually thrilled with Merrell shoesI just bought these, so can't comment on how well they perform as shoes, but they are wide (which I prefer), feel light and comfy. I first bought them in my usual size 8, but they were way too big for me. I would recommend double checking their sizes provided here (I used my actual foot length in cm), went for a recommended size 7 and the fit is perfect.Looking forward to testing these in the mountains. They arrived very quickly which was good. Once I opened the box I realised they're not waterproof - my fault for not checking the specs. I've sprayed them with proofer and they're now fairly water resistant, in showers at least. Fit is a bit on the large side, and for me, the insoles are too hard and too high in the arch but I've bought a pair of (expensive) specialist insoles. I love the colourway (Olive) and look, and with the replacement insoles they're comfortable, with good width in the toe box which I always like. However, they're described as Trail Running Shoes but this is inaccurate - they're hiking/walking shoes.
