This is my third pair of these Timberland Chocorua boots. They have been a stalwart for me. They are comfortable, durable and keep my feet dry. I've worn them in the desert, the mountains of the northwest and just as an everyday shoe. No eyelet failures, rips or tears The uppers have always outlasted the soles. An all-round good reliable boot at a decent price.I work on my feet 8 hours a day.In 2010 I was suffering from Plantar Fasciitis, and wore Dr. Scholl’s arch support insoles with every shoe I owned, as recommended my foot doctor, and that worked well enough. One day, while shopping for hiking boots, I came across these ones, and noticed the great arch support they had, bought them, started wearing them to work, and never needed the Dr Scholl’s insoles again. They not only have great arch support, but also great ankle support. When they are new, I can stand in one place for a long time and my feet don’t hurt or tire. It actually feels like someone is holding my feet straight. The arch support holds well for over two years, the ankle support diminishes in a few months, but it is still noticeable over a year later. Overall, I need a new pair every two years or so. I do always own two pairs at a time, and I wear them all the time.My plantar fasciitis disappeared after wearing these boots. Still today, if I wear any other shoes, like my sneakers, and walk around for half an hour, my feet hurt, but with these boots, I can walk or stand all day, and feel no pain or tiredness.A couple of years ago I devoted a whole day to shopping for a different pair of boots that had equally good arch support. Went to different stores, tried on many pairs of different brands, including other Timberlands, but I could not find any model that was such a complete solution as these Chocorua are. Either the arch support was not as good, or they were not as comfortable, or they lacked the ankle support these have. In the end, I ended up buying two more pairs of these Chocorua. However, Timberland has discontinued these boots, as I learned when I contacted them directly. They are now only available through outlets like Amazon, or Zappos,I highly recommend them if you have my foot problems. I also went on many hikes with these boots and they performed excellently, even after wearing them for months at work.I read the comments about waterproofing, and Gore Tex vs. Timberdry (mine are Timberdry), and though waterproofing is not a factor for me, I can tell you that these boots are on my feet 90% of my time with shoes on, and I have worn them through snow and rain many times, and have never experienced any dampness, or water leaking. These Timberlands are never disappointing. I have been ordering them for years. Now you might think that is boring and predictable but they seem to be made for my foot as far as comfort and feel, size 9.5.I use them exclusively for work so I can attest to them in the field in all sorts of terrain and ambients. They are reliable and sure-footed. This is important to me. Buy them!great fit right out of the box with no break in needed would give them a 5 if the sole would last longerThese boots looks really nice, feels warm and comfortable but it happens to fit a little small (so I have to return them). I have bought several Timberlands over the years, boots and shoes (I still have a 15 years old boots, with Vibram outsole and Gore-tex membrane), but found the last ones a bit smaller than older ones. I don't know if something changed in the manufacturing process over the years, but I still use my old Timberlands (they fit perfect) and this is the second pair of shoes that run small for me (I think that half a number bigger would be a good choice, but I use 13M and there was no bigger option available in this model). I didn't have the chance to try them outdoor (but old Timber are great) so I gave them 4 stars because of the fitting.Delivered Quickly, the Right Size, they Looked and Felt Great !!!!Timberland has always satisfied my work boot needs. Buy a pair once every couple years.Use em a fee times a week and they been doing their job perfectly. Recomend em for anyone doing outside work. They a gotta a nice grip on the ground tooHad a few pairs of Timberland boots and really impressed with all of them, they are extremely well made, very strong and compared to other boots real value for money. Used these boots half dozen times so far and my feet have always stayed nice and dry. I'd highly recommend these boots to anyone who enjoys walking.Only thing to watch out for is the size, I am a size 8 in ALL my footwear but when these arrived they were a slight tight fitting. I took the gamble of keeping a size 8 and after a couple of times wearing them they soon felt a lot better and am glad I decided not to change them to a size 8.5Can't go wrong with Timberland boots they'll last longer than any of these 'trendy' hiking boots.I bought these in April 2014. Since then, I've used them to take the dog out every day for at least 40 minutes. Most of the route is paving or concrete which produces more wear and tear than grassy fields. After about 1 year and 3 months, the sole was worn down and through in places. Finally, they're fine in wet weather but if you're walking through wet grass or puddles, they are not water proof so you may end up with squelchy socks and boots.Oh, and just one more thing - worth checking the Amazon price history of these boots as they have fluctuated considerably over the past 18 months. Link: http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com/Timberland-Chocura-Goretex-Membrane-Hiking/product/B000VX1BYKI ordered a 1/2 size up on these but they are still a little tight on the width. They will probably fit better after a few wears. I would suggest buying at least a 1/2 size bigger then your usual fit or even 1 full size up.Nicely made and light. I did expect a lot more cushioning in the sole, they are quite hard but support well. Laces are too short for a decent double knot.I'm well impressed with these boots! They are smart looking, good enough to wear for hiking or casual. Very comfortable and when laced correctly, very supportive to the ankles.I've used them for hiking with the dog, they offer good grip and whilst I wouldn't want to walk through a brook in them, they do seem to cope well with sizable puddles and wet grass.Just what I was looking for and at a fair price. Recommended!very comfy straight out the box, uppers are robust and appear to keep the weather at bay, however that's when it goes downhill, the soles are absolute rubbish, had these for approx. 8 months, use them for walking the dogs daily and already the soles are almost through, mixture of terrain so can't blame that, the soles are letting down the rst of the boot, the uppers are still in great condition but they will be binned soon, which is a shame.
