Salomon Men's Utility Freeze CS Waterproof Hiking Boots - Winter Snow Trekking & Outdoor Adventure Shoes for Men - Perfect for Mountain Climbing, Trail Walking & Cold Weather Activities

I have been a Solomon shoe and boot fan for 20 years or more and I think these are their best combination of form, function and fit. I have been wearing them daily traveling north through Jasper, Whitehorse and now in Fairbanks for the past month with temperatures to -45F with either Darn Tough or Smartwool wool socks and never even a hint of cool creeping in. I put on my Columbia Bugaboot III’s and feet started getting cold in 15 minutes at those same temps. The pros: light weight, great traction, don’t look like monster hiking boots or snow boots/ reasonably stylish, seemingly waterproof, out shell is some sort of new material that wipes off clean and doesn’t seem to scuff. Cons: none so far in my book. Soo impressed I may have to grab another pair before they decide to discontinue.Very nice and warm boots. They're stiffer than they look in the pictures, and feel more like old school hiking boots than hi-top sneakers. The outer material is very rugged and leather like, but nearly impossible to scratch or scuff. I've actually tried with my fingernail and then on a curb while I was wearing them. Cannot put a lasting mark on them, which speaks well to durability. Black looks very understated and low key, but nice. The insoles that come with them are very light in the padding department, so I swapped in some from a pair of Saucony running shoes and they are much more comfortable now.One minor warning - they are true to size, but on the small size. If you're closer to the next size up or plan to wear thick socks, get a half size larger.Great fit and looks, at least I think so. They are water proof though I have not waded around in a stream or puddles,,,,,, yet.I wanted something comfortable for my feet that now sometimes feel pain spontaneously in my heels. I remembered, from my Army days, that the spec ops guys love Salomon. They know what's best for protecting your feet. So I finally got a pair and now my feet are thanking me every day.I like the design and purpose to use the shoe for urban walking and light outdoor hiking environment. The boot fit is absolutely perfect. It is imperative to identify your sneaker size first before making the order. Good quality boot, I bought it primarily for light hiking in Sedona and so far I am very happy with the boots. I highly recommend them.The comfort and light weight of running shoes. The waterproofness and warmth of legit boots. These are my new go-to shoes for winter. They go great with athletic pants, jeans and crossover casual/dress pants. And I keep getting compliments on them.Salomon- the best!Super light and very comfortableVery warm and comfortableI like everything design, color,weight but it’s too tight. So I returned it back to the seller.Der Schuh ist schick, leicht und trägt nicht zu stark auf.Er ist außerdem schön warm, ohne, dass man übermäßig ins Schwitzen gerät und auch wasserdicht. Das habe ich in einem mehrstündigen Spaziergang bei Schneeregen getestet. Die Schuhe waren außen komplett nass und innen schön trocken. Sehr fein! Ich habe eine Nummer größer bestellt und er hat genau gepasst.Der Wermutstropfen ist, dass die Schuhe leider an allen möglichen Stellen drücken. Die Stelle, an der die Zunge an der obersten Stelle mit der Außenseite des Schuhes vernäht ist, ist schlecht gemacht. Hier drücken zwei Harte Knubbel links und rechts je nach Stärke der Bindung voll oben in den Fuß rein. Lösung bisher - nicht so stark zubinden, aber dennoch stört es mich sehr. Das sich das noch ausläuft wage ich zu bezweifeln.Der Schuh sieht gut aus, ist sehr leicht und wie von Salomon gewohnt super bequem. Einzig die rutschfeste Sole ist nicht wirklich rutschfest bei Matsch/Schnee. Daher nur 4/5 Sternen. Im gesamten stimmt der Farbcode aber. Ich glaube die gelben sind bis -10°C gedacht, die roten für noch kältere Temperaturen. Blau müsste etwas weniger warm halten als gelb, wenn ich es richtig in Erinnerung habe. Für den deutschen Winter sind die gelben auf jeden Fall warm genug, sofern man in Bewegung bleibt. Wenn man die Schuhe vor Gebrauch ordentlich impregniert, lassen sie sich mit einem Lappen und etwas Wasser in ein paar Sekunden reinigen und sehen danach aus wie neu. Ich empfehle allerdings Socken aus Merinowolle o.ä., da die Atmungsaktivität nicht die beste zu sein scheint. Das ist wohl der tollen Beschichtung geschuldet. Reine Baumwollsocken sind also nicht die beste Idee, aber das gilt ja prinzipiell für Winterschuhe und Wanderschuhe.Habitant en Allemagne je cherchais des chaussures "tout terrain" adaptée à la marche par temps froid pour de petits escapades mais pouvant aussi être portées occasionnellement à la ville (par exemple après-ski). Je chausse du 43 en chaussures de ville et j'ai opté pour la pointure 43 1/3, fit parfait avec des chaussettes fines. Pas encore d'usage mais la qualité apparente est bonne.Schuh fällt kleiner aus wie erwartet aber sonst top.
